More Adventures

I'm glad everyone liked the video!  It's important to me that my family can see him in action because they are so far away and are only going to be able to see him in person a couple times a year.

This one is from a few weeks ago when Enzo figured out he could make a cool sounds when his fist thumps his big cloth diaper.  He looks so ridiculous when he does this.  Esme makes an appearance in this video and she's adorable as well, tripping out on her psychedelic dragon.  This video has a surprise ending.

Enzo and Esme

In other news, Enzo is flexible!!  (Yes, Mousey has been replaced....)  This is his new favorite thing to do when his diaper is off.

Here he is before going out to Easter brunch with Deborah and Esme in his bee clothes and Ezra's velvet shorts:

And afterwards, enjoying the Easter basket Deborah made for him!

And this is one of my favorite pictures of all time, Esme as a grumpy bunny!

And in her pretty Easter outfit.

Enzo and I are off to Sacramento tomorrow to visit Jen and her week old baby Sarah.  So excited to see the new human made by one of my favorite people!

Videos of Enzo

So, I've been having problems putting videos on the blog and Jake had the brilliant idea of using a new format.  I'll be uploading videos to my Youtube account using a privacy feature.  This feature involves having the link I post here to watch the video.  In other words, I'll post the link and title to the video like this:

Enzo and Rings, 16 Weeks Old

....and it will take you to Youtube to watch it.  You cannot search for the video on Youtube's site because it is private.  You can only access the video through the links I post here.  Make sense?  Let the mamarazzi begin!!

Being Playful

Enzo loves his rings!  Nothing too exciting going on here, but it's just a sample of what he's been up to - chatting, grabbing on to toys and putting everything in his mouth.  It was a cold rainy day today and I had to entertain myself by taking a bunch of pictures and videos!

Enzo wore his first pair of overalls yesterday!  These were Jake's which fit him at 6 months.

Here is Jake wearing them at 6 months!  I'm going to recreate this photo - I have the shirt and the bear!
He is actually standing in this picture using the pillow as support.  He could stand long enough for me to take the picture!!

Esme and Enzo at La Leche League meeting last night.  Esme is dressed as a polar bear.  His skin is pretty rough because I think he has a wool allergy.  I gave him a wool toy right before the meeting and he broke out around his mouth almost instantly.  He resolved pretty quickly though.

This is from this morning.  He actually started 45 degrees from this position (laying in line with the orange and blue blanket).  I put him down, went to make coffee and by the time I got back to him he had moved this far.  We fear he is not going to be a very still child....

A New Stage

Before I explain the title of this post, here are some cutie randomness that has happened over the past two weeks:

Enzo and Esme getting their cuddle on!  They are much more interactive with each other which delights Deborah and I to no end!

The after bath bathrobe and happiness.  He still loves taking baths and we've increased the frequency to at least twice a week now.

He's of course been holding his head up for awhile now, but here are some adorable pictures of him during tummy time and loving it!  He gets pretty bored quickly when on his stomach, but we try to put him there so he can increase his upper body strength in preparation for crawling.  He's really working the eyebrow raise!

This smirk just kills me!

This was taken last night.  He's been such a happy baby this week!  It is so easy to make him smile.  I feel like I'm being spoiled with such a happy little guy!

Now for the new stage news.  He's getting really into putting things in his mouth.  He always seems to have some fingers in his mouth and if not those he finds a toy to shove in there.  He's also reaching for toys now and as you can see below, he's enjoying his gymnasium more and can spend a good amount of time batting the toys and making them jingle.

Today I caught him doing a big back stretch to reach the squirrel that was behind him (and on the opposite side).

Well, last year today Enzo wasn't even a thought in our heads.  A year ago tomorrow though, he was in every thought!  March 23rd was the day we found out he was on the way, which seems like a lifetime ago.  What a journey the past 12 months have been!  The baby being out of the belly has been by far my favorite part.  Well, going on maternity leave was pretty great, but having him in my arms leaves that sentiment in the dust.

3 Months Today!

Oh how the time flies by!  I can't believe it's been a month since I posted here.  So much had happened and Enzo is getting to be so much fun!

When he was 9 weeks old Jake went to Australia for two weeks for a writing workshop.  I was worried about being alone with him by myself for a week, but it was fine.  By the end of the first week I was getting a little burnt out, but then, grandmas to the rescue!!

The grandmas came out to visit (when Enzo was 10 weeks old) and we all had a blast!  It was so special for my mom to meet him for the first time and for them both to spend so much time with him.  He loved all the singing and book reading (and even acquired a few more books for his collection).

This is one of my current favorite pictures:

When Enzo turned 11 weeks old we took our first road trip.  Jen's baby shower was in Sacramento so we loaded him up and had a short but fun time.  This is Enzo in the hotel bed.  He's a natural to lounging!

After the trip I started work the next day and the anticipation of going back to work was much worse than actually going.  I had a very warm reception back to work which made the transition a bit easier.

This is something we've been doing a lot!  He loves the carrier (we couldn't really get comfy in the ring sling) and we take a long walk every day with the dog.  Our current favorite destination is to visit the very pregnant goat named Gemini.  She's going to have her baby goat any day now.
Passed out on daddy in his buffalo jammies.

This was taken today mouthing a new blanket from a co-worker.

At 13 weeks he is getting pretty chatty, sleeping better and reaching for things he's interested in.  It's so fun!

2 Months Old

Well, Little Man has turned two months and things are getting a little smoother.  He's sleeping more at night and needing less diaper changes.  He's usually in a good mood and those smiles and infrequent giggles just melt my heart.  Today we had his 2 month well baby check up and he got 3 vaccine shots and one oral vaccine.  He took the oral one no problem (he seemed to like the taste of it!) and took the shots like a champ!  I breast fed him while they gave the shots and he would give an initial cry, then stop and continue eating.  They did the shots in quick succession so it was over pretty quickly, thank goodness.  I think I was more upset about it then him!  He now weighs 12 lb 11 oz and is 23 inches in length.

He has so many expressions!  This first picture I wish wasn't blurry, but he does this raised eyebrow thing that is so cute.  It is my goal to get a better picture of this!

Happy farmer's market baby!  From last week.  He loves riding in the stroller.

His new favorite sleep position when he is in his chair!  It looks so uncomfortable and I'm always surprised that he doesn't wake up with a sore neck.  Luckily for me, Enzo likes to sit in his chair in the kitchen while I do dishes or cook and just watch me.  He is quite the kitchen helper in that he doesn't need to be held every single minute of every day!

 Kissin' Mr. Bear.

Kissing Esme, though she is looking at mommy saying "help!".

Turnip is sitting pretty for the picture, why can't you Enzo?  Thanks for the stink face!

Enzo and Esme last night in their matching outfits!  Mine was a gift and Deborah had one that was a hand me down from a friend.  It was a coincidence that we both had it and good thing, because they are super cute in them!  I like how they are linking arms.

It's been busy....

I think about blogging everyday about of all the wonderful and adorable things Enzo does in his spare time to keep you updated.  However, I have no spare time and need to focus on basic hygiene principles, feeding the family and taking care of a tiny little man!  Days just go by so quickly, even though it seems I get nothing done.  We have also been doing more outings lately and one trip into town is usually about 4 hours.  He is so good when I take him out - just sleeps in his stroller or takes in the sights.  Strangers comment on how cute he is which delights me to no end!  Anyway, the reason you come here....pictures of Enzo!

This is his changing table, all decorated with recent gifts of artwork.  The Turnip portrait is by Matthew Porter and is from my mom.  The painting all the way on the right was made by Jake's grandma and the color scheme is perfect for the room (and a beautiful painting nonetheless).  The real hit of this area is that mouse image by his head.  He loves that mouse and just stares, smiles and talks to it for as long as I let him lay there!  We've even made up a special song about the mouse that we sing during diaper changes.

Tired daddy, awake baby.  The pink jammies were mine as a baby!  They look so cute on him!

Notice his pinky fingers!  He naps with pinky fingers extended like that and we like to think he is dreaming about drinking tea with the Queen!

I was snapping some photos of him while napping after nursing, and he caught me!

This outfit is for when he is feeling like a badass baby!

And the recent favorite, the big smile!  I took this right after he figured out he could put things in his mouth.  It made him very very happy.

Since it's my birthday, we decided to do at least a little something so Deborah offered to babysit and we have dinner reservations.  First time leaving the kiddo with someone else!  I'm sure it will be fine, especially if he has Deborah and Esme to hang out with.
